NO SCHOOL this Friday, Nov. 11th for Veteran’s Day.
Please vote. It is important that our children learn the importance of voting through modeling and discussion. I hope you take the time, as the primary educator of your own children, to share with them your feelings about the actions you take. OUR MPR will be a poll and voters will be on campus all day. This may also lead to curiosity questions.
This Tuesday is voting day. Some people have approached me about sharing where charter schools stand in voting. I believe everyone should make their own decision for candidates and for measures and propostions but I also know that it is hard to figure out this quantity of measures. IA does not endorse anything political. I can tell you that the following candidates support charter schools:
LaShae Collins for SD Unified Board and Mark Wyland for SD County Board of Education
Two ballot measures impact schools: Prop 55 (extends 2012 income tax for money to schools on those making over $250) and Prop 58 (removes restrictions on bilingual education from 1998). To see CCSA’s endorsements, follow this link
Periodic Updates about our Social Emotional Program are sent out in a separate email. Our hope, in doing so, is that you will be able to support us to develop the ability for your children to think and act critically, make judgements based on intrinsic values, problem solve, communicate directly, interact effectively with others and develop self-control…none of which are effectively developed with the manipulative aspects of rewards and punishments.
