Weekly News 10/2-10/9

Welcome to week 6 of the 2016-17 school year.

Student Led Conferences (SLC)
Next week we will have minimum days for the entire week (with dismissal at 12:30) so that students can lead their parents and teachers through a student led conference. Please come prepared to listen to your child as they share with you their successes and struggles and show you work. You will leave the conference informed about your child’s behavior and academic progress. Be sure to get info about and sign up for a conference via your teacher’s weekly email.

Nutrition
Children, especially those who struggle with attention and focus have more difficulty in school when they ingest sugar, artificial colors and sweeteners, synthetic and other unhealthy foods (which include Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, 7-11 foods etc.) before the school day begins. Students need healthy proteins, fruits and veggies and plenty of water. Please support your child and our teachers to create the best learning environment by feeding them healthy foods in the morning and sending them with healthy foods for snack and lunch.

Correction:
Last week there was an announcement about the 5th-8th mock election. It was brought to my attention that the student mock election will take place on 11/4/16 not election day as stated.

Help a Family
A La Mesa family is still looking for someone to help with their 3rd grader and 1st grader after school on Wednesdays. They can be at the school by 3:45 PM to pick them up, so they are looking for either someone to wait with them at the school, or carpool assistance or trade to East County. Please contact Sara at 619-252-2593 or squarders@gmail.comif you are able to help. Thank you!

A Poway family is moving and needs to re-home their chinchilla. It is a male, about 3 years old, named Pepper.  It needs someone who can give it a lot of time and attention during the day and evening. It is a little nervous to interact with people since it was not held much.  He needs someone willing to tame him.Contact Rachel 858-442-0111 or email rcannon21@cox.net
