LUNCH
An over the summer analysis revealed that a lot of time and money was being spent on providing hot lunches for a minority of children at IA. We have decided that in order to continue the program, it will have to be staffed by volunteers. If enough volunteers are not found, we will continue with our “bring your lunch” program for the rest of the year. If interested, contact Kiersten@innovationsacademy.org
That said, 8th grade will soon begin a Friday Pizza Lunch as a fundraiser for their end of the year 10 day trip to Northern California. Stay tuned for details.
FAMILY FUN NIGHT
The Parent Connection is in full swing and has organized their first event: Family Fun Night
Come join the IA community for the 2nd annual Family Fun Night Thursday, September 15 from 5:30 – 7:30pm. Enjoy music, magic, raffles and fun! Bring a picnic for your family or grab something from the food trucks. And be sure to mark your calendars now for Stargazing – Friday, September 23 and the first annual Fall Festival – Saturday, October 22. Hope to see you there!
SCHOOL PLAY: Why the Grinch Stole Christmas
Auditions for the Innovations Academy first semester play will take place Monday September 12th at 1.30pm and Wednesday September 14 at 3.30pm.
The auditions are open to all grades and all students are welcomed to audition. Prior experience is not a requirement just bring your enthusiasm. Some solo singing roles are available and students interested in those roles should prepare a short song of their own choosing. PARENT FITNESS
A parent fitness class will begin on Tuesday September 20th, NOT September 13th as originally advertised. The cost is $20 for 5 classes. For further information please contact natasha@innovationsacademy.org
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE AND MINDFUL EDUCATION LEARNING NOTES
In order to support parents to understand the culture of our school, Jennifer, our school counselor, has created weekly emails that will help you understand the lessons that are taking place in your child’s classroom. These notes will go out at the end of each week. Look for the first Learning Note at the end of this week
CARPOOLS
Christine is now searching and experimenting with apps that can help IA parents connect with other parents to establish carpools. Thank you for your patience. In the meantime, a family is seeking a carpool near Espola and Valle Verde Park. If you can help out, contact Douglas dcbasinger@hotmail.com
