Good Evening, Innovations Families,
Our first two weeks have been amazing. Students and teachers have kicked into gear and we are excited about all of the engaging learning taking place. Upcoming programs starting during the school day for our students:
- Grades K-5 Math in Motion with Malashock Dance Theater
- Piano (Soft Mozart) for all students. Will begin when the equipment arrives.
- ST Math for grades 2-8 (see the Ted Talk– )
- Robotics for all grades K-8 (also waiting for robot shipment to arrive)
- Computer Programming started last week for middle school students who chose to take it as a club.
Here is the news for the week:
1) Regarding lunch box safety: we have purchased large blue bins to store lunches which will keep the squirrels at bay. Please remind your child to put their lunch in the blue bin if they are worried about squirrels chewing through their backpack or lunch bag.
Regarding ants: Ants are everywhere on campus. A marvelous suggestion from a parent that served her well was to put a baggie of cinnamon in the lunchbox to keep the ants away. We are hoping the blue bins do the trick as well, but it is good prevention.
2) Regarding the lunch purchase program: Thank you for your patience while we work out the kinks. We are in the process of developing a way to change or cancel orders. For now, if there is a problem after you have placed your order, or any confusion, continue to email Christine@innovationsacademy.org or call the school at 858-271-1414.
3 Regarding Enrichment Classes (before school) Dance and Spanish before school enrichment classes are beginning this week. There are grade leveled classes of each. They must have a minimum number of students to run the class. We are especially looking for students in grades 2-5 for Spanish. Here is some brief info:
Spanish starts this Friday for K-1 and the following week for 2-5th and 6-8th To enroll or for questions see SpanishFlier9-13. The cost is $457 for the whole school year and can be broken into payments.
Dance begins this week. 3rd-5th on Mondays, 6-8th on Tuesdays and K-2nd on Wednesdays. To enroll or ask questions contact: summer@danceforcesandiego.com Dance classes are $150 for the session that lasts until 12/13/13.

4) Regarding Mandatory Parent Meetings: Two have now happened and they have been successful at communicating information so that we are all on the same page.
