Lunch at IA

LUNCH MENU

We have staggered lunch periods at IA to allow for more space on the lunchcourt. Unless raining, students eat on the lunchcourt. Free meals are served OR children can bring a sack lunch/lunchbox. Microwaves are available to students to reheat leftovers and other foods that are best eaten warm. We encourage families to send food in reusable containers to protect the environment as well as to reduce waste on campus. We also encourage families to send their children with healthy snacks such as fruit, veggies and nuts (no sodas, candy- please!)

For the 23-24 school year, ALL families who feel they may qualify, whether participating or not, should complete the federal meal form. This can be downloaded, printed and returned to IA or completed at Open House. Here is an instructional letter for the application. Applications must contain:

  1. All household members – children at the top, adults at the bottom
  2. Case # if household receives benefits [OR] income with acceptable frequency of pay for all applicable household members
  3. Total household count (must match total # of people on app)
  4. Last 4 digits of SS# [OR] check box for none
  5. Parent/guardian signature

Sustainability and “Green” Lunches

At Innovations we have a goal of reducing lunch waste significantly moving, each month, towards a zero waste lunch program.
Additionally we would like to decrease the use of plastic baggies, juice bags and straws on campus. We request that your child bring a thermos with beverage everyday instead of single use trash generating food items. Students will take all of their lunch trash home with them each day to be discarded and recycled appropriately.

Please support this goal of becoming waste free. As the landfill overflows and plastic pollutes our land and waters, we all can take power in knowing that we can make a difference. For ideas: Waste-free lunch ideas

 Snacks
All students at Innovations Academy should bring a healthy snack every day. Examples of healthy snacks include fruits, vegetables, cheese, meat, nuts and whole grains. No candy, sodas, energy drinks or other high caffeine/high sugar items are allowed.
