Weekly News 12/6-12/12

Welcome to a new week and here are the announcements.

As you know, Innovations Academy will be forced out of our current location in June 2017. We are currently working with realtors to find ourselves a new home. I would like the process to be transparent and will be sharing information as it emerges. Currently we are looking at several properties. Our goal is to stay as close to our current location as possible. I will be holding a facilities information meeting in January, so stay tuned.

Being able to speak about your learning, understand what you know and value the process of creating a quality final product is what Exhibition Night is all about. And that is why it is a one of the most important components of assessment at Innovations Academy. Please be present on December 17th between 5:00-7:30 p.m. to celebrate learning at IA.

And speaking of exhibitions, The IA Performing Arts Department, lead by Natasha Starbuck-Smith is presenting A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. This is a schoolwide production and the cast is drawn from multiple grade levels. The performance is on Saturday, December 12th  at 6:30 pm. Reserve tickets by donation at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-christmas-carol-tickets-19740747106  (Donations of at least $1 per ticket will be collected at the door.)  A flyer for the play is attached.

To donate Christmas decorations for the set, drop them off in the front office.

To volunteer to help at the Gala Performance Reception that night which is being hosted by our very own Parent Connection, use this link to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c044dafac2fa1fa7-gala

To have a break-a-leg message printed in the playbill for a child you know who is in the performance, email Amanda Belton at abelton2013@gmail.com and pay $5 in the front office.

Carpool Needed

7th graders are still collecting plastic and glass bottles for recycling.

To assist 8th grade end of year trip fundraising, Jennifer Lindeman, a certified car seat tech and IA parent, will be in the IA parking lot on Dec 12 offering car seat inspections, installations and booster seat checks. $50 for the first  car seat and $30 for additional vehicles or seats. If you only have children in a booster seat it is $15 for a 15 minute appointment. Jennifer can tell you if your child is in their booster properly and whether they are ready to be in the vehicle without a booster seat or not. This is done by appointment only. Call Jennifer at 858-385-9028 to reserve your spot or with questions or you can go to her website at www.SanDiegoCarSeatInfo.com

Thanks for staying tuned in and have a great week.
