Info about: School-Home Communication, Enrichment Classes, PE, Parent Association & Flip Force
Welcome back for another week of learning and growing together. Let’s all stay cool.
Communication
Parents are always the primary educators of children. You prepare them for life every day in every interaction. We are honored that you would delegate some of that mission to us and we want to partner with you. In order to effectively partner, communication is important. Here are some ways we regularly communicate with you:
- This Sunday call and email which is also posted under the news tab on the website and our internal FB page called Innovations Academy Charter School Parent Group. Ask to join if you are a FB user.
- Communication Log: All 1st-8th grade students will be utilizing Home-School communication logs. These are composition books in which students will journal about things they are doing in class to share with you. Some classes use them daily while others use them weekly. You are asked to sign the book to show you have received it. Check with your child and the teacher if you are missing this in upcoming weeks.
- ThreeRing is an app that we will be using. We have a training that will occur soon and then you will be invited to create an account. This app serves a dual purpose. It is a communication tool as well as a visual portfolio creator that will be accumulating images and videos of your child at work and the work they do and will be available as an assessment tool.
- All teachers send a weekly email to you. This is different than the all school call and email. It will have detailed information about the work being done in class. This email will also be posted to the class digital portfolio that can be located from the website under the tab titled, “CLASS PORTFOLIOS”
Enrichment classes begin this week
K-3 will participate first semester in Nature Studies, Art and Pottery
4-5 will participate in Robotics and Pottery and Art
6-8 will participate in Spanish and Art
Physical Education
Additionally, we have our new coach team beginning our skill based PE program for every class. They come to us from Athletic Initiative and we look forward to learning from them.
Parent Association
The first PA meeting was held on Friday. It was a success and we thank all who could attend. If you are interested in getting involved in any way and could not attend, please feel free to email IAParents@innovationsacademy.org
In support of our community, I would like to share ways we can support each other. One of those ways is to highlight a business run by our families. This week I would like to share with you about Flip Force San Diego. Misti and Ivan Flores have three children who attend IA. Flip Force has supported IA by having field trips in the past. They offer classes in dance, trampoline and tumbling, parkour and more. They also host open gyms and birthday parties. Please check out their link for more info. http://flipforcesandiego.com/
