The first week of school was very successful. Thank you for getting us off to a good start with high attendance and prompt arrivals in the morning. The Parent Association met on Friday morning and kudos to all of those parents who will be helping us out this year. The Pledge Drive will be starting soon.

Before and After School Enrichment classes are beginning on campus. The following are offered:
Spanish, Piano, Chess, Soccer, Pottery for middle school, Guitar, dance, Band and instrumental music. See the Before and After School secion under the “Our Programs” tab on the homepage of our website. If you plan to enroll your child in an enrichment class, please do it NOW.

Bowling Leagues are forming around town. See our website under the news tab for the flier. Meetings will be held Sept. 20th at Poway Bowl.

This week, students dove into our First Six Weeks program, academic content and learning the skills of conflict resolution and effective community participation. Please mark your calendars now for our Student Lead Conferences which will take place the week of October 13th. Students will attend half day that week in order to allow time in the afternoon for families to review progress and set goals with their children and the teachers.

Parent Communication this year will rely heavily on two structures: 1) FreshGrade, a software tool that we will release later this month and 2) Thursday communication logs. It is important that you ask your child to see their communication log every Thursday evening. We require that it be signed and returned by Friday.

Niki, our ART teacher is looking for a parent to volunteer in the following ways:
– To help rotate (put up and take down) art displays/shows around school.
– To possibly be an extra hand during classes here and there that require a lot of clean up/prep time/messy stuff (pottery, printmaking, etc.)
– To communicate with other parents re: art class news
– To help set up possible field trips
