Weekly News 3/31-4/5

I’d like to start this week with a huge appreciation going out to all of the families that came to our exhibition night.  We can all be proud of the work our students and teachers. They showed a depth of academic achievement rarely found in elementary and middle schools. We would love your feedback and would greatly appreciate if you could fill out this questionnaire.

The 3rd Annual IA Family Dance is coming up on April 11, right after spring break.  This is the opportunity of the year to experience a fun school related family activity not to be missed. Whether your child is in the lower grades or the middle school they will have a great time. Because dinner is included, it is very helpful if all families planning to go purchase tickets now. The way to do this is to fill out this registration form. I promise you won’t regret it. Besides a great dinner there will also be a $1 raffle with fabulous prizes, a photo booth, classroom basket auctions, and of course dancing!

By the way, volunteers are needed to help set up, serve food, work the raffle and auction tables, and clean up.  There are many different shift times available so volunteers can spend part of the evening enjoying the dance with their families.  This is a great way for reluctant participants to have fun and help out. SDGE is having a parent workshop to inform parents about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers, what many call STEM careers. Meet experts from the workforce and education community who will answer your questions about STEM and a quality STEM education. SD STEM Pathways 04-09 flyer about this April 9th event.

One of our parents shared this video with me. It is 22 minutes but very worth your time There are several lessons for our school and for parents. See if you can find them.

Spring break is next week. Please note that our teachers have a professional development day scheduled on Monday, April 7th and there will be no school for students. We thank you for your support of these collaborative days which allow IA teachers the time to plan, organize and collaborate together. We look forward to seeing your children here on Tuesday, April 8th.
