So many activities are happening at school: end of the year field trips, P.O.L.’s, the closing of projects, cleaning up around school, 8th grade graduation and more. Last week I included in the message a brief outline of a few upcoming changes. I did so to inform and I hope that I did not generate any fears by doing so. Since that call I have heard and read a barrage of unsubstantiated gossip and rumors about the school, myself and teachers. Some were in emails, others by hear-say. I would like to remind our community that though rumors may be more exciting than the truth, what we model to our children will be what they repeat. Gossip and rumors impact our whole community and do nothing to meet your needs. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to come to the director’s office and ask anything. Feel free as well, to email for an appointment or to call me. Thank you for contributing to uplifting our school. We have an amazing school. Let’s keep it that way. Be the change.
Thanks to Beth Foster our E-waste event was a success. Approximately17,500 lbs were collected. Our beat our target which was 10,000-12,000 lbs. Innovations Academy will receive a $1,000 – $1,500 for this event that will go to our garden next year. We saved enough energy to take at least 10 cars off the road for a year. Be proud of what we can do as a team.
One of our students, Breanna, is trying to raise money to pay for her airfare to visit her friend in the Netherlands. She will be having a bake sale on Monday, June 3rd, tomorrow, after school. Please support her initiative by buying one of her sweet treats.
Another student, Katrina, is collecting end of the year items to donate to the poor for her girl scout troop. She will have a collection bin for school supplies that are no longer needed by our students.
The end of the year MAPS test (Measure of Academic Progress) is taking place this week. Please check the class blogs for POL sign-ups and other pertinent classroom information.
Have a great week!
