Hello! My name is Sarah Beth. I am so incredibly honored and excited to be teaching 1st grade again this year. This will be my 3rd year with Innovations Academy, and my 14th year teaching; I have taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades, as well as 6th-8th Grade CORE. With the focus on plants, animals, and foundational skills in Mathematics and Language Arts, 1st Grade is definitely my favorite grade to teach.
I was born in Ohio and am a big time NFL super-fan (GO Bengals!) I grew up in San Diego after moving here at the age of four and have loved living in Ramona with my husband for the past twelve years. It is beautiful and fun to be surrounded by farm animals. I have ten rescue pets – seven cats and three dogs, as well as a turtle and a bearded dragon.
I possess two degrees from California State University, Chico: a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies – Teaching Track with an emphasis in Sociology, and a Post-Graduate California State Teaching Credential. I also hold a Master of Arts in Behavior from National University.
I believe in developing culturally responsive lessons that foster community in the classroom and differentiating lessons/groups to meet students at their individual levels. I am extremely creative in designing learning environments and project-based learning experiences that span across the subjects. 1st Graders are so curious, energetic, and fun. I cannot wait to instill a love of learning in this year’s students through rigorous content, hands-on projects, and positive interactions.
