Weekly News 11/1-11/7

Our community is incredible. We have completed the first seven weeks of school, supported children through student led conferences and accomplished much academic work.

PLEDGE DRiVE
The Pledge Drive has been extended for one week, until Nov 6th.

The money from the Pledge Drive is going towards a van, or two, if we can afford it. Last year IA students attended 115 field study experiences, almost all with parent drivers. This can be very difficult, especially in the upper grades. Last week our 4th grade class had to cancel their Symphony field study due to a lack of drivers. We need these vans. To date, this year’s pledge drive has received 106 donations for a total of $10,350.00! We are on a roll!

The money is important and the vans are important however, the most valuable return for us is the participation rate. I know that we can get 100% participation. What does that mean? That means that 100% of IA families participate in our fund drive. I believe that all of our families could give at least $1. That would be 100% participation. If your family can not spare any money whatsoever this year, please write a note to us letting us know what you appreciate about our school. We will then consider that participation. //Below is a chart showing participation so far per grade level: (Participation per grade level at this point is:)

GRADE # student participation TOT STUDENTS %
K 20 36 55.56%
1ST 21 39 53.85%
2ND 20 45 44.44%
3RD 12 25 48.00%
4TH 12 26 46.15%
5TH 12 27 44.44%
6TH 18 42 42.86%
7TH 9 39 23.08%
8TH 9 23 39.13%
TOTAL 133 302 44.04%

Here is what you can do at this time…If you have already participated, thank you. Please encourage other families to participate. If you have not participated, please stop and take the time now to make a plan for writing an appreciation or for deciding how to give. You can send in an envelope with cash or a check, you can donate on our website under the payments tab or stop by the office. A 3 question anonymous pledge drive feedback form has been created. Please let us know what you think about our pledge drive. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5CVBKXF

SAFETY IN THE PARKING LOT
Drop off and Pick up are becoming an issue. Traffic is backing up and there have been a few dangerous situations as students cross the lot to get to the gate. It is up to us to create a safe parking lot. Please pull all the way forward on the white curb at drop off and pick up so as not to block people coming in after you. Be aware that students are crossing from the lot towards the school. Drive slowly and give people the right of way. If dropping off is going to take more than a moment, please park in a spot.
