This week is election week. I hope all of you know that Marshall Tuck is running for State Superintendent of Education. He has a strong track record of support for charter schools. Please take this into consideration when you vote.
Last year, Gov Brown changed the funding structure for public schools and in doing so, tied it to a new accountability plan. It is called the Local Control Accountability Plan or LCAP. Last Spring there was an informational meeting. Our LCAP can be found on the website under the finance tab. Please take some time to look it over.
On Wednesday, November 12th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. the S.D. Unified School District will be holding a community meeting seeking input about what to do with our school site. It would be inspirational to have our whole community, all 350 students, their parents and our staff present to give input to the district about the use of our facility.
Bring in your excess Halloween candy by Tuesday, November 4th and it will be donated to Operation Gratitude who will send the candy in care packages for troops overseas. IA earns $1.00 per pound of candy.
A Poway carpool is needed asap. An IA family needs your support with a ride home for their daughter in 6th grade. In exchange, they are willing to drive in the morning. They live near Garden Road School on Aldrin Ave. If you can help out, please email Kathy: Kathy.odegard@gmail.com

Mark your calendars, Innovations Academy is closed Tuesday, Nov 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day. We are also closed November 24-28 for Thanksgiving break.
The IA hot lunch program is changing on November 10th. We will begin using our partner vendors again. Our current partners will be Rubios, Pollo Loco, Costco and Vons. Lunches can be ordered on the IA website under the lunch tab.Simply select from the online menu and proceed to our paypal website. All lunches must be paid by 8am the day of lunch or they will not be accepted. See website for lunch details.
Help our school and get your holiday shopping done early. Gift card sales take place every Wednesday after school (next to Jamba Juice). You can also order plastic and electronic gift cards from Great Lakes Scrip, www.shopwithscrip.com. The school enrollment code and instructions will be sent in a separate email. (Donna will send out)
A family at IA would like to offer a temp rental for the month of December. It is available for 4 weeks but could do less. The rent would be very low in exchange for caring for their cat and possibly help maintenance such as garden work. It is a 4BR/3Bath house in a wonderful community in North Poway.
