Hi, I’m Kristy, and this will be my third year at IA and my 15th year of teaching. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, as well as a Master of Arts in Education. I possess both a K-8 Multiple Subject Credential and a Single Subject credential in English Language Arts. I’ve had the opportunity to teach grades K-1 and 5th-8th. I have a strong passion for helping students grow through reading, writing, and making meaningful connections through social-emotional learning.
I grew up on Whidbey Island in Washington and now enjoy life in San Diego with my husband, Ben, and our rescue pup, Gemma. I also have two amazing grown children who inspire me every day. When I’m not in the classroom, I love to be active and outside. I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, going to the gym, exploring new places, and cooking with my husband—we also run a small business together.
I’m so excited to be back in 5th grade this year and look forward to a year full of learning, community-building, and making memories!
