YOUR CHILD’S PERSONAL INFO
A recent order in a lawsuit against the California Department of Education (CDE) is impacting all schools across the state, including Innovations Academy, even though we were not involved in any way with the lawsuit. The CDE has been ordered to to release data on all California public school students.  Parents can file an objection form with the court to consider not releasing your child’s personal information and records by completing and mailing attached by March 11, 2016. For your convenience, hard copies of the objection letter are available in the office. If you have any questions, please visit the CDE’s website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/morganhillcase or contact the CDE at (916) 319-0800.

ATTACK ON CHARTERS
As some of you have no doubt seen, a petition has started to circulate to place an initiative on the ballot that would outlaw charter schools. There is no panic but it is important to stay informed. Here is a letter that gives more detail. And here is an article that can help understand this strange new dilemma: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/feb/15/charter-growth-stirs-trouble/

The following three announcements are from the social committee:
IA COMMUNITY STARGAZING

Looking at the stars through a telescope is an amazing experience for all ages. Come join the IA community and the San Diego Astronomy Association for a night of stargazing. The Astronomy Association will be setting up their telescopes in the dirt lot at the far east end of Stonebridge Parkway, just passed Stonebridge Neighborhood Park (coordinates for maps 32.932986N, 117.000525W) on Friday, March 4 from 6 – 9pm. This is a beautiful remote location at a trail head overlooking a valley so make sure you’re prepared by using the bathroom before heading over. There is a port-a-potty but it may be locked at that time. Also, eat dinner before you come or pack a picnic, chairs and a blanket. Hopefully we see you there!
