To The IA Community
Things are hopping at Innovations Academy. Our new projects are underway and as I walk around the school I see happy students completing academically challenging work in purposeful and meaningful ways. Please take the time to come on campus every once in awhile to see your children’s work. I am thankful to our teachers and proud to be a part of a school that challenges the myth that learning has to look and feel grueling and torturous.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND POSITIVE DISCIPLINE?
Come learn the principles of Positive Discipline in a fun and experiential workshop and give yourself and your family a gift that lasts a lifetime! This series of workshops is to be held on Thursdays, from February 19-March 26 from 6:00-8:30pm at IA. See the PD Workshop Flier for details.
SCHOOL DANCE
SAVE THE DATE: Our IA Family Dance, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Innovations Academy. Our annual dance is fun for everyone. Make it happen for your family.
NO SCHOOL
There will be NO school this Friday, February 13 and the following Monday, February 16th to celebrate Abraham Lincoln and George Washington’s Birthdays. I suggest you share your knowledge about these former presidents with your children. Plan now for some solid family time outdoors!
MOVIE:
No matter what your philosophy about vaccination, we believe that knowledge is power. This is a current hot topic in the media and there are chances that we all know families that vaccinate and those that don’t. Be informed, make informed decisions and understand why others do what they do. Innovations Academy does not take a stand on the practice of vaccinations. One of our parents has worked to bring a documentary showing of the movie Trace Amounts to San Diego. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, the link is provided in our weekly email and on the news tab for today.

Carpool Needs for our students:
1. The Stivers-Spitz family is without a vehicle and they need rides to and from school (they will help pay for gas). They are currently living near Poway High School. Contact Tanya at 858-254-5391.
2. Jake Stevens also needs a ride TO school every other Monday morning, starting Monday, February 9th. They live in Scripps Ranch, near the “old Von’s” & Swim & Racquet Club. Near the cross streets of Pomerado and Willow Creek, Appaloosa and Atrium.
They would be willing to return the favor by giving your child a ride to school every other Tues, Wed or Thur, if that would be helpful to you. Contact Janis Stevens at 858-442-4583
We thank you for helping others in our community.
