Weekly News 1/14-1/21

Good Evening, Innovations Families,

No School Tomorrow
I hope all of you are enjoying your three day weekend. The first item is to remind you that there is NO school tomorrow due to the celebration of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. We resume classes on Tuesday and look forward to seeing the sparkling eyes of your well rested children.

School Performance Auditions

  • Electrical engineering:Learning about Infrared sensors, touch sensors and how to make a robot sumo wrestle!
  • Computer Science:Learn to program to travel to waypoints, operate claws and scoops.

Interested students are welcome to check things out on a trial basis and/or contact the head coach directly at jeff@innovationsacademy.org

Seeking Carpool

An IA family recently moved and is looking for a carpool from the Casa Mira View complex on Sydney Lane – in the 92126 zip code.  Interested families can contact Kristin at kristinhdottir@gmail.com

A Student Performance
One of our students is part of a band through Rock and Roll San Diego, a music program where students learn music as they play. Their band, the Mainstage Maniacs, will be playing a gig opening for another band in Clairemont. If you would like to inspire your child to learn an instrument while showing support for an IA student, come to The Fast Times Restaurant on January 20th at 7 pm. (3065 Clairemont Drive, San Diego, 92117619-642-0338)

It is a family restaurant with a bar, no songs have bad words, they play a variety of music style, it is kid friendly and there is no cover charge.

Academics at Home
We have a no meaningless homework policy at IA but that does not mean you can’t have fun with academic content at home. To that end, I would like to remind families that our students have access to STMATH puzzles and they are fun to do together. There are two fliers: ST Math at Home and Asking Good Questions that may help you understand how you can use these puzzles for home learning. Additionally, students have access to other software that you can familiarize yourself with to be aware of our online learning.
