Know Your Valley Scavenger Hunt

This is IA's big yearly fundraiser.  Our school is sponsoring a mutually beneficial event where we raise funds to support arts, athletics and technology in our school, and your local businesses get increased foot traffic and sales because of it! We need parents to help get businesses to buy an ad.  If you frequent local Mom and Pop shops, this is a great advertising tool for them as well.

Current businesses involved are:

San Sai Japanese Restaurant
American Grill
Fiesta de Reyes
Pat & Oscars
Borders
Chevy's
California Pizza Kitchen

Ideas

Ideas are the start to everything. At the RASCALS they can be the start to good things for our school. Even if you couldn't make your idea a reality, someone else may be able to. It doesn't hurt to toss in an idea and see where it goes. Other rascals may surprise you. Or you may surprise them with your idea. Everything starts with an idea and a good group of people can make anything happen.

Contact IAParents@innovationsacademy.org with any and all ideas. Lets see where those ideas can take the school.

 Ways to help everyday

Innovations Academy can use the Rascals' support every day. Check this page for ways to support us.

Here is where you will find the link for donations and requests for supplies that are needed everyday. Follow the wishlist links below or sign up for an item below.

Make our wish come true!

You can make a valuable contribution by gifting us something from our Amazon.com wish lists. You can choose to make a gift to our general school wish list, or from the wish list specific to your child's grade:

Here are extra requests from teachers. These are requests that can be met sometimes by looking around your home (or business) or seeing an item while you are out.
  • Brooms especially the wide push brooms
  • Small vacuums
  • Lamps (for softer lighting in the classrooms)
  • Laptops/Computers
  • Printers
I am not sure you realize; the teachers clean their rooms everday after school. They share brooms, mops and vacuums. Lets help them do the hated task of cleaning a little easier with a few donations.

These donations do not need to be new. Go to a thrift store or the back of a closet. All donations will be appreciated.

We're planning an auction!  It's in its early stages and we'd like to have an auction as soon as we have a substantial amount of items.  We are looking for:

  • Any Crafts.  Anything that someone has asked you to make could sell in this auction. (One parent has offered to make piggy banks)
  • Baked Goods. (The baked goods are going to work a little funny. What will be auctioned off is an IOU for a cake to be baked at a later time of the buyer's choice. That way someone can buy a cake for a birthday a month away.)
  • Extra tickets or coupons you have to anything, like parks, shows or spas. (With zoo memberships you get extra passes. You could donate something like that or a coupon you won't use but that is really good.)
  • A service (3 times of lawn mowing, or trimming your bushes, weeding a flower bed, 10 times of washing dishes. Sign your child up for one of these if they'd like to help!)

Any other suggestions that could spark someone's imagination on what to donate are welcomed and appreciated.

Reading Buddies

We're looking for a parent to set up a Reading Buddies program.  Parent Reading Buddies come in to IA to read to children and have kids read to them, that's it!  With just this simple program we can turn kids on to reading and help those who have struggled.  We've seen that our kids who have a parent reading buddy flourish fast. A coordinator for this program is needed.

The Reading Buddy Parent Coordinator would:

  • Set up the responsibilites of Reading Buddies.
  • Send out a flier to parents to sign up to be a Reading Buddy.
  • Coordinate with our teachers to find out when Reading Buddies can come into the classroom.
  • Schedule parents to come in for Reading Buddy times.
  • Look into additional training to make our parents the best Reading Buddies that they can be.
Please contact Danielle@InnovationsAcademy.org to begin volunteering.
