Volunteering at Innovations Academy

 

Volunteering is one way to contribute to the improvement of education for the children of San Diego. Innovations Academy welcomes volunteers who can help in many different ways.

Currently there are four groups of parents gathering to enjoy collaborating to support the school. All IA parents/caretakers are encouraged to join any or all groups as they see fit. They are as follows:

IA Corporate Parent Fundraising: are you interested in the corporate side of fundraising for IA? If so, please contact IA parent:                    
IA Commuity Parent Fundraising: are you interested in fundraising for the school? If so, please contact IA parent:
Parent Community Helpers: whose main goals are to (1) help with tasks that support our school as needed; such as creating an outdoor classroom, managing a lunch program, etc. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact IA parent: Grant Writing: this is a great group to be a part of as you can work from home! You do not need experience to be a part of this group. There are many templates for grant writing and you can also help by researching grant opportunities. The main goal of this group is to research grant opportunities and write grants. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please contact IA parent: On Campus Volunteer Coordinator: Do you have organizational skills that could be put to use helping coordinate our volunteer program? On Campus Volunteer: We need volunteers to work in the classroom and in our Explorations Program. If interested email us now.

Innovations Academy can use parent support every day. Here are some ways to support your teachers year round.

Make our Wish Come True!

You can make a valuable contribution by gifting us something from our Amazon.com wish lists. You can choose to make a gift to our general school wish list, or from the wish list specific to your child's grade:


Ongoing requests from our teachers and staff that can be dropped off at the front office anytime:
  • Inexpensive digital cameras and flipcameras
  • Lamps (for softer lighting in the classrooms)
  • Computers, especially laptops
For simpler requests you can pick up on weekly shopping excursions:
  • Reams of Paper
  • White Board Markers
  • Toilet Paper/Tissue Paper/Paper Towel
  • Cleaning supplies (Windex, Scented Air Fresheners, etc.)
