Innovations Academy Charter Renewal
It was beautiful to have the community come out last Tuesday. We were well received and I am hopeful for a smooth reauthorization. That said, the public vote for approval will be held on March 6th at 5 pm, 4100 Normal St. San Diego 92103. Please schedule this in now. A community show of support is always important.

Umbrella Donations for Art
Niki, the art teacher is in need of any used, unwanted and/or old umbrellas for an art project. Any color or size will do! Drop them in the front office.
Kona Ice On Campus Tuesday
Please support our 6th Grade Fundraiser on Tuesday, February 13th. Feel just like you are in Hawaii while you enjoy a delicious Kona Shaved Ice. The Kona Ice truck will be located by the second school entrance from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm. $3 for a kids size, $4 medium and $5 king size. All proceeds will go towards the 6th Grade Catalina Trip. This week! Valentine’s Day Dance
The 8th grade is hosting two dances on Wednesday, Feb 14th.
The K-5 dance will be held 3:30-5:00 p.m. and tickets are $10
The 6-8 dance will be held 5:30-8:00 p.m. and tickets are $15

GS Cookie Sales
Girl Scout cookie booth sales start this week. If you haven’t signed up and would like to, follow this link. If you are seeking cookies, bring your money and purchase after school from an IA scout.
Globetrotters Game Feb 23 at 7 pm
It’s February and that means the Harlem Globetrotters are back in San Diego! Coach Curry’s charity will be getting discounted group tickets again. The first 45 orders will be given the opportunity to participate in a pregame meet and greet with up to three of the Globies!
Here are the details:
When: Friday, February 23 @7pm
Pregame meet greet will be at 6pm
Where: Valley View Casino Center aka The Sports Arena
How much? Online $21 each for card purchases, cash/check $20 each
If you would like to order tickets, please go to www.athleticinitiative.org and either pay online or print the form and return it to the Globetrotter box in the IA front office with cash or check made payable to Athletic Initiative. Orders must be placed by February 17!
Robotics Team
The Middle School Botball Team is up and running. They meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will add Saturday practices beginning March 3rd. If your child expresses interest to be on the team you must contact Jeff@innovationsacademy.org. They are working towards participation in the SD Regional Tournament on April 21st at USD, an ALL DAY EVENT from 8am-6pm. If your child is young but interested, you may want to consider attending the tournament to watch.

The meal train for the Curry family is still open at this link. Help our coach and his family get back on their feet after the birth of their fifth child.
Rally For Charter Schools
The Calif Charter Schools Association is holding a CA Dem Party Teach-In at the Dem Party Convention at the SD Convention Center on Saturday Feb 24th. The event is from 10 am – 1 pm. They are seeking community members who want to show Dem party officials that charter schools are great. There’ll be a rally, speakers and time to meet Dem delegates to tell your compelling stories. This is a great opportunity for children to learn about the political process. CCSA will pay for the buses, and breakfast and lunch will be provided for the families that attend.
