Weekly News 8/20-8/27

Sunday Blast

8/20

Good Evening, Innovations Families,

I hope you had a lovely summer and are eager for school to begin.  The teachers and staff of IA have been meeting for a week and we are excited to begin creating our new classroom communities. Open House is scheduled for Thursday, 8/24 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.and school begins 8/28 at 8:45 a.m.

Registration Apology
Our registration company, K12 Online, has been updating their system and the new version is lovely, but with this comes the usual challenges of programming glitches and delayed timelines. We are sorry for any problems this caused and hope you can be patient with this system.

Class Placement
Class Placement will be posted beginning at Open House.

School Supplies
IA is a public charter school and therefore parents are not required to purchase school supplies. Below is a suggested supply list that you can use if you would like to donate any. You may just want to wait until you meet the teacher at Open House and hear his or her ideas. School supplies are donations and not necessary for the first day of school.

Supplies for Grades K-1 (see teachers at Open House)
Supplies for Grades 2-8 (feel free to wait until after school starts to hear teacher suggestions)
4 Composition books (preferably wide ruled in grades 2-5, college ruled in 6-8)
2 Glue sticks
1 set Dry erase markers
colored markers (thick or thin, depending on child preference)
colored pencils
blue painters tape
scotch tape
disinfecting wipes
band-aids (for classroom use)
hand sanitizer or hand soap
ear buds (to keep at school as many of our students do not like our headphones)
white card stock
black sharpies
box of Kleenex
ream of copy paper

Facilities Update
As you know, the district has a plan to construct apartments in our space. The district staff told us this summer that we will be given an extension of our lease until June 2019. That said, we are eagerly exploring various locations for what will be our permanent forever home in the future. Any leads you may have on 4 -6 acre properties located anywhere between Kearny Mesa and Scripps Ranch, please notify Christine or Tony.

Field Trip Bus
Thanks to previous fund drives, Innovations Academy has enough money to purchase a bus. If any of you have any contacts in the bus sales world, please touch bases with Tony or Christine.

Looking forward to seeing you!
