Hi everyone! My name is Ali Kolb and I am teaching second grade for the 3rd year at IA. I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I moved to San Diego to escape those cold Midwestern winters and enjoy the outdoors year round. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Elementary Education and History. After spending a summer volunteering in Tanzania, I realized that I loved what I could learn from living outside of the country, so I packed up to teach at American schools abroad. I taught in Bangkok, Thailand for two years and then Asuncion, Paraguay most recently, also for 2 years. It was an absolutely incredible experience but it is so great to be back in the USA! IA has been an amazing place to continue to develop my educational philosophy of students actively learning together as a community. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy doing anything outside. I love running, backpacking, hiking, camping, playing volleyball, and learning new sports like ultimate frisbee. I also love to travel and to cheer on the Green Bay Packers! I am so excited to continue my journey at IA and to meet even more members of our community. Looking forward to getting to know everyone better throughout the year!
